Some of you will have noticed that things have become much quieter on Magnets and Miracles in recent weeks. There's a reason for this: I'm finding it very difficult to write about music at the moment.

I've been working with Ukrainian refugees every day for two years - some of them have turned into friends. The Russian war of aggression, which began at 4:36 am on 24 February 2022, therefore affects me personally.

The last months in particular have been terrible for anyone whose heart is set on Ukraine. We have to face the fact that the USA under Tr*mp has switched sides, is dancing to the tune of the war criminal P*tin and is prepared to sacrifice Ukraine.

Every day I deal with people who fear more than ever that they have lost their homeland forever. People who fear for the lives of their families and friends in Ukraine because their former most important ally no longer supports them.

Writing about music against this backdrop is impossible for me right now. I'm currently listening to a lot of music to take my mind off things, but writing reviews is a completely different matter. My enthusiasm for music hasn't disappeared, but it has clearly faded into the background. If I don't have the passion, it's better not to write anything at all.

In conclusion, I would just like to say that anyone who voted Tr*mp into the White House should be ashamed of themselves. This president is destroying the Western alliance system that has been established since the Second World War and is betraying our once shared norms and values. Can you really stand your reflection in the mirror?

Just today Tr*mp stated that Ukraine might not survive this war. This is where he is completely wrong: no matter how much Ukrainians suffer now and in the near future thanks to US treason, Ukraine will never perish thanks to its brave citizens. It will rise again, as it has done so many times in its history. Слава Україні!
